the boyfriend listBook Title: The Boyfriend List
Author: E. Lockhart

Fifteen-year-old Ruby Oliver has had a rough ten days. In the past ten days she:

*lost her boyfriend (#13 on the list)
*lost her best friend (Kim)
*lost all her other friends (Nora, Cricket)
*did something suspicious with a boy (#10)
*did something advanced with a boy (#15)
*had an argument with a boy (#14)
*had a panic attack (scary)
*lost a lacrosse game (she’s the goalie)
*failed a math test (she’ll make it up)
*hurt Meghan’s feelings (even though they aren’t really friends)
*became a social outcast (no one to sit with at lunch)
*had graffiti written about her in the girls’ bathroom (who knows what was in the boys’!?!).

But don’t worry–Ruby lives to tell the tale. And make more lists.

Ruby’s life has taken sudden nose dive, and it doesn’t seem likely to turn around any time soon. All of the down turn started when Jackson decided to break up with Ruby. Along with losing her boyfriend, she loses her best friend, Kim. She soon becomes a ‘leper’ which pretty much is a friendless loser at her school. Rumors fly around way to quick for even Ruby to keep up with them and what everyone’s saying about her. But she’s coping with this whole mess while visiting a shrink even if she’s not willing.

It took me the second time around to actually read the whole book instead of leaving it on my bookshelf. But it was an amazing read to those girls who have been heartbroken before and are over-analyzers of every boy’s little movements. Overall, I delightful read, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series, The Boy Book.
