Derek’s clearly the love Marisa’s been waiting for, but there’s just one problem: he has a girlfriend. Nash is clearly wrong for Marisa, but he’s crushing on her. And as if life wasn’t complicated enough, Marisa’s also contending with a best friend who won’t stop falling for older guys, a family that’s acting totally bizarre, and a secret crush on a guy whose identity is a mystery–even to her.

Marisa’s forever crushing on friendly, popular, and cute guy Derek. When Derek’s girlfriend breaks up with him. Marisa is the receiver of Derek’s attention now, and she’s loving every moment of it. The plot line is slightly cliche–girl likes popular guy.nerdy boy likes girl. Marisa soon after starts dating Derek, but then her friendship with her neighbor, Nash, fires up again. Who will Marisa choose Nash–the one who understands and listens to her problems or Derek–cute, guy who makes Marisa feel like she’s something special due to him picking her? A lovely little cute thing is the tv show host of All Talk, No Action! is spinning in Marisa’s mind too. However, he remains anonymous. I knew from the start who he was, but it was still intriguing enough to read.

Waiting For You is more about the complex characters rather than the romance plot side. Marisa struggles to find herself and her wants. She’s living in a new home atmosphere without her father, her anxiety disorder, and dealing with bumps along her romantic life. When dealing with all of that, Marisa discovers more about herself and acknowledges her true side. This book was easy to relate to and comprehend well too. I really enjoyed reading about the multi-layered, complexity of the characters and the partially emotional side shown.
