Spencer covets her sister’s boyfriend. Aria’s fantasizing about her English teacher. Emily’s crushing on the new girl at school. Hanna uses some ugly tricks to stay beautiful. But they’ve all kept an even bigger secret since their friend Alison vanished.

How do I know? Because I know everything about the bad girls they were, the naughty girls they are, and all the dirty secrets they’ve kept. And guess what? I’m telling.

Four best friends encounter a tragic incident when their leader of the pack, Ali, vanishes and doesn’t return. The best friend’s friendship vanishes as well, leaving all the girls to go their own paths.

After years later, you remeet the girls..

Aria Montgomery is back from Iceland where she moved rather quickly after Ali’s disapperance, looking even prettier. Aria faces family problems daily soon enough when she moves back along with the mysterious A texts.

Hanna’s dropped her chubby baby fat during the summer of seventh grade. Hanna Marin is the new “IT” girl of the school. Along her side is her boyfriend, Sean Ackard, and best friend, Mona Vanderwahl.

Emily is the tomboy in this bunch. Always at swim practice, aiming for that scholarship like her sister Carolyn did. Soon enough, she realizes that she’s attracted to girls, and not her boyfriend Ben.

Spencer Hastings (my somewhat favorite character for some reason) overachieves at school, and basically has the need to live up to her older sister Melissa’s exceptations. That is where she turns cold enough to kiss Melissa’s boyfriend Wren and get caught. Her life sprials down from there, and fast.

The mysterious texts from A lead all these different lives into one again.. They must work together to find out who A is, before A decides to reveal their secrets that only Ali knew of. Pretty Little Liars is filled up to the rim with well-written drama, suspense, the mystery of the all taunting thought of who the heck is A. The book leaves you wanting more..
